Our new carousel and fireworks

Image
We have been waiting a year (and $3 million dollars later!!) for our new carousel to open.  We were perfectly happy with our old (free) carousel on the Greenway, but I was actually very surprised how cool this one is.  It is all handmade with the ideas for what animals to make from Boston Public School children.  Come visit soon and check it out with us! We ended this night watching a fireworks display on the harbor.  Kept the kids up late, but you can't miss fireworks!

Long Beach in Plymouth, MA

Image
Nothing better than a summer day, a private beach and friends.  This day in Plymouth had all of that!  Our friends rented a house on Long Beach which you can only get to with a four wheel drive vehicle and a special permit.  Yes, I drove the Jeep out a few miles on this off roading trail.  Pretty hysterical! There was nothing there but lots and lots of friends.  I don't think I heard from the kids once except when they wanted to go on the jet ski with Wally!  We finished off the night with a huge seafood dinner and ice cream.  This is what summer is all about!

Kiddie pool

I guess the kids aren't too small for the kiddie pool yet!

Welcome to Kindergarten

Image
The Boston Public School does a free day at the Children's Museum for all kids entering Kindergarten (or K1) that year.  We did it for Rich so Chris took the kids this year for Angela.  They love to run around the Museum, get snacks and get to pretend to ride the school bus.

Diving competition

Image
A fun thing we have been attending in the summer is the Red Bull diving competition.  Boston is the only city they go to in the US and man is it awesome!  Seeing these guys dive 90 feet off of the top of the ICA is truly amazing.  This year the camera guy thought our cute little family deserved some TV time so put our picture on the HUGE jumbotron TV's that were all over the field.  All 40,000 people who were there got to see me, the kids and Regina watching from the grass! So funny!

Top of the Hub

Image
Now that we started going to St. Cecelia in Back Bay we spend more time downtown than we ever did.  This Sunday we realized the kids had never been to the Tub of The Hub (restaurant at the top of the Prudential Center).  There is an observatory, but instead of paying $50 for the family to go up there we had "special drinks" at the restaurant and took in the sites.  So funny how the kids knew so many more landmarks then I did the first time I had been up there.  They saw, "their school, their bridge, their parks!"  My Boston kids!

The Wells in Wells

Image
Literally one of our FAVORITE places and it was coincidentally named after our family! Love Wells, Maine and love our friends the Shumways!

Cousin fun!

Image
Awesome weekend with the cousins!  We are so happy they visited for the weekend.  We packed so many activities in, can I really remember them all?  Zoo, pool, Fisherman's feast, AND a Red Sox/Yankees game!

Ballet camp

Image
Angela went to ballet camp this week and absolutely loved it!  I never thought I would hear her say it, but she now wants to be a ballet teacher when she grows up.  We loved seeing our little "boy" in a tutu with the biggest smile all week.  She wants to do it every week during school now too.  On the last day of camp the girls made tutu's and did a little performance for the parents.  We have to hit the store for some real ballet clothes and shoes.  All camps are over so now it is just time to enjoy the last days of warmth and no commitments.

Fountains

Image
Haven't been to the fountains in a while so the kids had so much fun this impromptu trip.  Don't know why Rich was wearing pants.  It was August and hot.

Dad Day at the US Amateur

Image
Jessica had the day off so I (Chris) took the day off and took both kids to the US Amateur Golf tournament at The Country Club.  Very fun event as you get to walk down the fairways with the players and hear all the conversations with their caddies.  Rich liked it better than the others he has been to as there were no ropes telling him where to go and we got to stand right next to the guys hitting.  This was Angela's first golf tourney but she seemed to love it as well.  Maybe we have two golfers on our hands if our checkbook can handle it.

ALL SPORTS!

Image
Our nanny (Jessica) sent me this picture today.  I guess he brought a little of all of his sports equipment to play at the park today!

Campers

Image
This week we have two campers - tennis and ballet.  Angela actually LOVED ballet camp and now wants to be a ballet teacher when she gets older.  Do I really sign my little "boy" up for ballet??
