Washington DC 2010 - Day 1
We expected Day 1 of our DC trip to be a little slow because Chris had a cold and Richie had a fever, but we didn't let this stop us! We rallied and hit 2 Museums even though it was raining. These pictures are from the National Air and Space Museum. This place was amazing and so perfect for all ages. It is FULL of real airplanes, spaceships and rocket ships. They are hung all over the museum and you can touch and go into most of them. The kids eyes and smiles covered their whole face! We also hit the kids story hour and heard the story of the first men landing on the moon. When the story was over, the kids were able to make their own Apollo 11 rocket!
Chris and I were then lucky enough to have both kids nap in the stroller at the the same time (vacation for us!) We went across the street and hit the National Museum of the American Indian. Again, another must see! The building and exhibits were gorgeous. While we waited for the kids to wake up we watched the rain with a beer near the waterfall outside the cafe.
Between the $7 plane tickets we found for our trip down and getting to stay at cousin Joanna's apartment (thanks Joanna), we could tell that this was going to be a great vacation! Oh and all of the Smithsonian Museums are free as well. This is a must do family vacation for all.
